Wyoming: a great place for data centers

With its boundless beauty, abundant natural resources, safe communities and business-friendly climate, Wyoming is an ideal location for data centers.
Cheyenne, in particular, has proven it is an ideal location as a data center host. At an elevation of 6,100 feet and with a semi-arid climate averaging 46.5 F annually, it’s an excellent physical location. Cheyenne additionally straddles a convergence of regional and transcontinental fiber optic cables, with at least six long-haul fiber providers within its footprint, resulting in an abundance of low-latency fiber. It is great for data storage and processing loads.
On the financial front, the state of Wyoming is extremely business friendly with no corporate income taxes, no inventory taxes and low property taxes, not to mention no personal state income taxes. Legislation has been passed offering a sales tax exemption for purchases of qualifying data center computing equipment, including uninterruptible power supplies, backup power generation, specialized heating and air conditioning equipment and air quality control equipment.
